Where does the parade start?
Sidney Park annexe at the junction of Ward Street and Brereton Avenue.

What time does the parade start?
Everyone to be lined up on board floats at 3:00pm for a 3:30pm start.

Which gate do I enter at Sidney Park annex?
Any of the four pedestrian entrances to Sidney Park, NOT the vehicular entrance on Brereton Avenue.

Can cars be left in Sidney Park annex after the parade has left?
NO, as this part of the park has to be cleared and locked up once the parade has left.

How long does the parade take to pass by?
Approximately 2 hours.

Where does the parade end?
Meridian Park Arena.

Where do I collect my child at the finish of the parade?
If they are on a float, please collect them from the float. You will need to enter Meridien Park via the main pedestrian gate only. Float organisers are asked to keep children on their float until they are collected by parent/guardian.

Where do we find out about getting a vehicle for the parade?
Speak to our local hauliers, they are very supportive and are willing to help out.

Where do we get scaffolding from and advice on it?
Local scaffolding companies are again very supportive and will give advice.

How do I find out about insurance for the float?
Local insurance brokers can advise or specialist event insurers can be found on the internet.

Do you need to be in a group to enter the parade?
No, you can come in as an individual or a couple. Everyone can Join, just dress up and turn up to the park ready to go.

How many collectors do we need to be eligible to have a donation from thecollection?
To be eligible for a donation from the parade fund you must have a minimum of 10 collectors from each group or organisation, this can include parents, friends and helpers who maybe walking with the parade in costume or in uniform. You must also be a registered charity and provide your number on your parade entry form.

What is the parade route?
It starts at Sidney Park, the route takes you down Ward Street to Grimsby Road, up Issac’s Hill through the High Street, to Alexander Road, down Sea Road, on to the Central Promenade, to Brighton Slipway, on to the Kingsway, along the Kingsway, down Kings Road to the Meridian Park Arena.

Where can I park my car when I am collecting my children from the event arena?
You can park in the car park at the Boating Lake or the closest street parking.

My child is in the parade, can I walk with them or behind their float?
Yes, but you must either have a t-shirt that says which float you are with or be in fancy dress.

Where can I get an entry form from?
All forms are available as downloads on our website or we can send you a hard copy.

Is there a theme?
No, but you must be in fancy dress or something appropriate to your float and the float must be in carnival spirit, not just a few balloons tied on.

All bands, pedestrian groups will be directed into the small car park and Meridian Park Piazza Area. This will be the collection point for parents for all walking groups from the parade. Float organisers must make sure that no children leave the finishing point alone and also ensure that their members are fully accounted for.
